The most enlightening and amusing time of the day, if you ask me, would be those 12 kilometres.. at the traffic light points.. I cover everyday between home and office.
Today at the bus stop, a group of school going children were found revising a difficult lesson. I could see a fear in their eyes, may be about some ensuing test. If I were allowed to, I would have happily traded their anxiety with the financial independence I proudly claim to be blessed with.
Freedom indeed means different things for each one of us!
In the evening, encountered a person close to his 80's, well covered to protect him from the cold weather, taking slow but heavy steps across a slip (pocket) road.
More than his trudge, what caught my eyes was the way he clenched some papers close to his chest. There was a shine in his eyes which reflected onto mine for a few seconds but has stayed with me since then.
His slow steps, I could see, were not because of the old age or any illness, for his shoulders proclaimed a dignified life.
It's the weight of his thoughts and an unexplained fear that made his feet move slower and his fist go tighter.
As the round light blinked to Green, my driver accelerated the vehicle. The vehicle & myself moved ahead without checking whether his signal also turned Green or not.
In this Mechanical World, There is Nothing More Mechanical than Us.. Humans!!
